Ryan Weaver

A native Austinite and top Latin America VIP travel specialist, Ryan Weaver is the Co-Founder / Director of Paragon Expeditions.

Known for his creative originality and tasteful approach to bridging cultural gaps, Weaver has traveled to more than forty countries, including extensive travels throughout the Amazon and the Andean region as well a successful expedition to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro–World’s Highest Freestanding Mountain (19,341 ft.).

After graduating from Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas, Weaver decided to take a year off before starting college and drove south through Latin America in a 1994 Chevy Tracker with Texas license plates. Inspired by Yvon Chounaird’s southbound journey to climb Mount Fitz Roy as well as his favorite movie, The Motorcycle Diaries, Weaver explored Central and South America extensively during the road trip. Through the experience, he developed a special appreciation for the natural beauty of the region and a deep love for the people. He was especially moved by the simple, kind-hearted nature of the indigenous communities he visited and gleaned invaluable wisdom from the Mayans of Guatemala as well as the Quechua and Aymara cultures of the Andes.

Energized in earnest by his extended road trip through Latin America, Weaver decided to further his quest for global understanding and studied geography at Texas State University in San Marcos where he earned a variety of academic accolades for excellence in geography. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA in Fall 2012.

Prior to his last semester, he was awarded the Presidential Scholarship on Semester at Sea. With the help of “lifelong learners” and many amazing professors during the 108-day voyage, Weaver and his friend Tom McNally co-created Paragon Expeditions while at sea in an effort to bring cultures together through unique and enriching personal journeys to Latin America’s most extraordinary adventure travel destinations. The company has since established deep-rooted, meaningful relationships and true inside-access connections throughout the region. Over the course of seven years, the Semester at Sea startup company has evolved into a true “paragon” of authentic and experiential luxury travel in Latin America.

Led by the founder’s geographical understanding and vitalized by the team’s collective desire to champion the beauty of Latin America’s indigenous cultures, Weaver and his team have meticulously designed and seamlessly delivered hundreds of handwoven journeys for high-end, VIP clients from the U.S. and all over the world.

Paragon Expeditions has emerged as the preferred Peru supplier for multiple top-tier Virtuoso travel agencies and has also worked with elite educational institutions including Texas State University - San Marcos, and the Texas Exes Flying Longhorns Alumni Association.

Weaver resides part-time in the Texas Hill Country where he enjoys fly-fishing clear-water streams, mountain biking and collaborating with other local businesses in the Austin area. With the help of his team, he continues to pioneer new and unique ways to add value to high-end VIP clients seeking the best luxury travel experiences in South America. Weaver believes that each of the layered, handwoven personal journeys have the power to transform limiting beliefs, deepen the cross-cultural appreciation and awaken munayki (Quechua term meaning “energy of loving-kindness”) that exists within all of us.
