Day 1: Arrival in Peru

Lima to Cusco, Descend to the Sacred Valley of the Incas
    • Arrival in Lima, onward flight from Lima to Cusco (airfare not included – 1 hr. 15 mins. flight).
    • Meet expert Andean weaver Nilda Callañaupa and local quechua artisans during a privately guided tour of the Center for Traditional Textiles in Chinchero (CTTC).
    • Enjoy a luxurious “picnic” lunch at Huaypo Lake catered by one of the finest restaurants in Cusco.
    • After lunch, private transfer to your luxury Peruvian lodge in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
    • Spend the rest of your afternoon relaxing, acclimatizing, and savoring the setting.

Day 2: Sacred Valley Tour

Explore Ollantaytambo and Meet the Q’eros
      • Breakfast at your luxurious Sacred Valley lodge
      • Private transfer to Ollantaytambo for a guided tour of the oldest continually inhabited village in the Andes and the former Inca fortress above town.
      • Learn about Andean ancestral cooking techniques and native gastronomy during a traditional pachamanca cookout at a local organic farm.
      • In the afternoon, discover the extraordinary musical and spiritual traditions of the Q’eros community during a private exchange with ethnomusicologist and Q’eros cultural expert Holly Wissler.
      • Later, your guests will prepare a despacho – a coca leaf offering to Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the Apus (Mountain Gods) – as Holly explains its ritual significance and offers insight into Andean spirituality and its deep-rooted ties to the land. You may ask for support or guidance in a particular matter, or simply ask for good fortune on your upcoming hike on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

Hiking the Inca Trail: Ollantaytambo to Huayllabamba (3,200m/10,498ft)

      • Private transfer while the sun rises to Km 82 where you will begin the Inca Trail trek, hiking through the beautiful Urubamba and Cuschaka river valleys.

      • For your final day on the Luxury Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, descend a magnificent Inca staircase, past Inca terraces, and arrive at Inti Punki, Gate of the Sun, for the first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu.
      • Enter the Lost City this afternoon to explore Machu Picchu while it is less crowded.
      • Descend to Aguas Calientes by bus in the late afternoon.
