Rio Sagrado – Sacred Valley Luxury Hotel
Set along the shores of the majestic Urubamba River an hour and ten minutes outside of Cusco, this magical Sacred Valley retreat offers one of the premiere luxury experiences in Peru. While some so-called 5-star hotels don’t truly provide 5-star service, Rio Sagrado most definitely does not fall under that category. A part of the Belmond collection, this spectacular Sacred Valley Luxury Hotel offers guests breathtaking accommodations and top-notch service while simultaneously maintaining a distinctly Peruvian feel.
Designed to mirror life in a traditional Andean village, Rio Sagrado has a breathtaking setting with indigenous-inspired architecture that creates a distinctly Andean ambiance. Baby alpacas roam the property and the soothing aroma of local flowers and heirloom plants permeates the air.
The rooms at Rio Sagrado offer heated bathroom floors and private verandahs with views of the river and surrounding mountains. Some of the suites even offer private kiva fireplaces on the back porch. The infinity-edge pool is the perfect place to relax as the sound of the rapids and native birdlife lulls you into a blissful trance.
Wilka Spa & Pisco Sours at the Bar
Guests seeking a deeper level of relaxation may schedule a massage at the Wilka Spa. Tucked into a native forest and surrounded by beautifully flowered gardens, this spa offers a variety of holistic treatments and products infused with native Andean ingredients. In the evening prior to dinner, guests may order a fresh Pisco sour at the bar and take a stroll through the gardens with the local Andean gardener, getting expert insights into the incredible variety of flora and fauna at this spectacular Sacred Valley luxury hotel.
The en-house restaurant offers some of the best food in the Sacred Valley, and many of the dishes feature products that are sourced in the local area.
Local Sacred Valley Tours
Rio Sagrado also offers a variety of local excursions through the hotel including horseback riding, yoga, cycling, and rafting. One of our personal favorite experiences is known as the “mystic ceremony.” Led by a local shaman, guests are able to partake in a traditional offering to Mother Earth, gaining first-hand insight into Andean spirituality.
