Perched on a remote peninsula between Puno and Bolivia, this all-inclusive Relais & Chateaux property offers guests a magical luxury experience on Lake Titicaca. Surrounded by breathtaking views of the lake, sky and beautifully umber distant cordilleras, Titilaka’s contemporary design meshes beautifully with the surrounding nature. The large windows in each of the 17 rooms make for a one of a kind indoor/outdoor experience, constantly reminding you of the aesthetically sublime location of this luxury hotel. Peru is home to such an inspiring example of culture living in harmony with environment and, at Titilaka, you are right in the center of it all. Whether you decide to go exploring on kayak or boat, Titilaka’s accessibility to the lake and the surrounding shores provide the outdoor adventurer with rich opportunities to experience the native culture, such as the exceptionally stunning reed islands of the Uros people. The lodge is also ideally situated 20 miles from downtown Puno, where one can witness the handicrafts and folklore of the region. Titilaka itself has such a wonderful collection of art that one will immediately feel welcomed and influenced by.
Uros Titino & Taquile Island
Visiting the floating Uros Islands and meeting the indigenous weaver’s at Taquile island is the most demanding day tour in all of Lake Titicaca, with that said, things can get chaotic once six boats full of tourists approach the islands for a morning tour. Titilaka discovered a solution to this problem by affiliating with a separate Uros Island called “Uros Tistino.” Here, Titilaka guests are the only nautical vessel that show up to the island for a meet and greet with the local people who inhabit the islands. This makes for a much more hands-on experience without the pressure from too many tourists invading their personal space. Afterwards, the Titilaka vessel will take you to Taquile Island where the hotel created their own Guest Center/Restaurant. Here a Peruvian cooking demonstration is held by the indigenous people, and you can choose to eat indoor, or at the outside pavilion on the island. Titilaka ensures that their guests get a completely unique cultural experience at the mystical Lake Titicaca islands.
The Boat House
Titilaka came to the realization that many of their guests arrive at their property completely exhausted from hiking to Machu Picchu, exploring Cusco and the Sacred Valley, or other exciting Peruvian Journey’s. They often times want to simply relax upon arrival, rather than doing another full-day excursion that will wear them out even more. The solution was the creation of The Boat House. Located footsteps away from the main lobby, this newly-designed addition to Titilaka was built to provide guests with a relaxing spot to lounge on Lake Titicaca. The hotel provides paddle boards, kayaks, and other fun boating options here at The Boat House. Guests are able to take excursions around the lake on their own, while a deckhand stays at the dock to make sure that every passenger is being safe. Afterwards, guests can kick-back, have a Peruvian cocktail of choice, and enjoy the ambiance of the unique environment.
Not only is Titilaka labeled as a Relais & Chateaux property, but it is recognized as a Virtuoso Luxury Lodge as well. The local food prepared by Titilaka is world-class, and they are continuously bringing in fresh, local ingredients for their Peruvian-inspired, gourmet dishes. Whether you are coming to Lake Titicaca for a relaxing vacation, culinary or culture experience, or perhaps to witness the biology and geography of the world’s highest navigable lake, Titilaka provides an all-encompassing luxury experience. There is no doubt that Titilaka is a one of a kind luxury hotel. Peru is vividly enhanced upon your stay here.
